Bangladesh Sends 11 Drone Technicians to Crostars Shanghai for a Month of Hands-On Training
On the morning of August 18, eleven Bangladeshi drone technicians arrived at Crostars’ headquarters in Shanghai to begin a one-month residential training program in swarm drone performance technology. It was the formal start of something months in the making. A government-supported technical exchange between Bangladesh and China, with Crostars as the host institution.
Chairman Shi Zheyuan, Board Director Yuan Haotang, and Vice President Hu Kai received the delegation at the office with a welcome ceremony before taking the group through the company’s facilities.
How It Started — A Press Conference in Dhaka
Before the team even boarded their flight, the trip had already attracted official attention. On August 13, the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh held a send-off press conference for the eleven technicians. It was an unusual level of diplomatic visibility for what might otherwise be described as a skills training program.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen attended. So did Faruki, Bangladesh’s Cultural Advisor, and Rahman, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Officials from both governments attended. That said something about how seriously each side takes this kind of cooperation.
Ambassador Yao Wen’s remarks went beyond drone technology. “Drone performance has become a new highlight of China-Bangladesh people-to-people exchange and scientific cooperation — a vivid demonstration of how technology empowers culture, and how culture builds friendship. We hope to strengthen cultural exchange and training cooperation, and inject new vitality into the China-Bangladesh relationship.”
Faruki, for his part, called the program an innovative example of what the China-Bangladesh relationship looks like in practice today, and wished the team a productive month.
Crostars’ Business Director Zhang Yan also spoke at the press conference. “Technology crosses the language barrier,” she said. “And art connects people across it. We look forward to continuing to contribute to the friendship between our two countries. We believe this collaboration will become a model for how technology and culture can work together, and how friendship can outlast language.”
What the Training Covers
The delegation flew into Shanghai on August 16 and spent two days settling in before the formal program began on the 18th. Over the following month, Crostars has put together a structured curriculum that moves from theory to hands-on operation:
The C5 drone system — the same hardware behind Crostars’ international performances — forms the practical core of the training. Students work with the actual equipment: real flight operations, not simulations. The curriculum also covers 3D modeling fundamentals and ground station software. Students learn the theory and safety standards behind large-scale swarm formation control, plus field survey and data collection practice.

The goal is straightforward. By the end of the month, these eleven technicians should be able to return to Bangladesh and run drone show operations independently. That means understanding not just how to fly, but how to design formations, manage ground operations, and handle the logistical side of a performance.

Why This Training Program Matters in 2025

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh, and has been designated the China-Bangladesh People-to-People Exchange Year. The training program sits within that framework. It is part of a broader Belt and Road Initiative push to build technical capacity in partner countries through direct knowledge transfer.
Crostars has been operating internationally for several years now, with performances across more than 30 countries. Taking on this training role is a natural extension of that. Crostars’ knowledge base doesn’t stay inside its own operations. It gets shared with teams who can carry it forward in their own markets.
Bangladesh has been on Crostars’ radar for a while. Earlier this year, Crostars performed in Dhaka to mark 50 years of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations. That show helped establish the relationship that made this training program possible.
